US Open

This year's US Open is preparing to tee off at venerable Merion, and since this time next year it will tee off at equally venerable Pinehurst No. 2 (one must always indicate which course in Pinehurst, though I don't know of any tournament of note that has ever been played on any of the other 7 Pinehurst's), I thought it appropriate to add to my sparse blog. I actually have only a few random thoughts to add, but maybe I will think of something as I write.

The one thing on my mind is occasioned by my Nephew-in-law having scored a Tournament Marshall badge for Merion. He will be patrolling the 11th hole, and this assignment offers an opportunity to cure one of the greatest ills to plague the modern game. I assume that as a Marshall he will be armed and have a badge- otherwise what is the point? So, the first time a moron shouts "Get in the hole", "you da man" or Baba Buie" shoot him. If I am sadly wrong and he is not packing his Peacemaker then please beat the cretin severely with whatever sign they give you to silence the crowd during putts.
